Both Everton and Richarlison enjoyed a tumultuous campaign in the Premier League last season. Both went through patches of form which elated or frustrated the fan base.

The Brazilian winger was brought to the club by Marco Silva from their former club, Watford, for a fee of around £45m.

Due to the struggled upfront Everton have had, with Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling to find the net, Richarlison has been used in that role and become the focal point of the team.

His relationship with Silva clearly has an effect on his game, in a positive manner. Known as a troublesome personality within the dressing room and on the pitch, his drop off in productivity was noticeable at Watford when Silva was dismissed amongst a dark cloud.

But he recaptured his form in the 18/19 season as he bagged 14 goals in all competitions this season. Speaking to FourFourTwo, Richarlison spoke of Marco Silva and his impact on his career;

“He’s a top manager.

“I really admire his vision of the game and how he explains it to the squad. It’s easy to understand what he wants from us and he has a very honest approach with everyone, so that makes a big difference.”

“It was difficult to hear criticism of him. I was upset by that.”

“After all, when things aren’t going well it’s rarely the fault of the manager – the players also have responsibility, but that’s football. I think we’ve moved past that crisis and improved throughout the season.”
