Luka Jovic has had a meteoric rise in the last 18 months, from Benfica outcast to Real Madrid Galactico.

The Serbian forward struggled with life in Portugals capital, blowing his chance at the club after going on a night out and ruining his relationship with the coaching staff.

He was then loaned out for two years to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, with a £7m optional fee. His first season at the club showed promise, managing to contribute in a small capacity to the side as they won the DFB Pokal at the expense of Bayern Munich.

But the 18/19 season was his real breakthrough. The forward finished the season with 27 goals in all competitions. His form attracted the attention of the biggest clubs in Europe, much to the delight of Frankfurt.

The German club paid his optional fee of £7m knowing they would make a sizeable profit on him within a matter of weeks. When Real Madrid came calling, that became a reality.

£60m later and Jovic is a new cog in the Zinedine ZIdane machine, a new Galactico era.

On his Instagram, Jovic left a heartfelt message to the fans of Frankfurt, thanking them for their time and his opportunity to propel his career to new heights;

“Dear Eintracht fans, as you have already read, I will move to Real Madrid. Of course, I would like to take this opportunity to contact you here again with a few words.

“I really enjoyed the last two years at Eintracht Frankfurt. I met a lot of great people and played in a fantastic club, which was also made by the fans to something very special.

“We can be proud of our achievements. I will never forget this Europa League season with you! The highlight was of course the DFB Cup win 2017-2018 in Berlin! That’s why it’s not easy for me to leave Frankfurt.

“However, Real Madrid opens a huge door for me to become an even bigger footballer. Every child has this dream of playing at such a club. My dream comes true now.

“I would like to thank the whole club and the great fans. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to develop my personality! Thank you for your support! You will always have a place in my heart! Your Luka.”
