Aston Villa won promotion to the Premier League and are already looking to bolster the squad with a move for Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley.
Goals from Anwar El Ghazi and John McGinn fired Villa to a 2-1 win over Derby County at Wembley and a return to the Premier League. Now it is time for Dean Smith to prepare his squad for the challenges ahead.
Rumours are that first on the list is a £10m move for Forest winger Joe Lolley, who is a boyhood Villa fan. The former Huddersfield man has previously been linked with moves to the likes of Crystal Palace, Watford and West Brom.
Lolley enjoyed a fruitful season at Forest, scoring 12 goals and laying on 11 assists on his way to being named the Player Of The Season at his club. A notable performance was in a 5-5 draw with Aston Villa in November.
Having signed a contract extension at the club in February, Lolley was asked earlier this month if he believes that was a sign of his commitment to the club;
“I do, yes.
“I signed a deal in February. I signed that because I want to stay here, because I want to be here. I do not see that changing, to be honest.”
“I know football is a crazy game in that respect. But yes, I see my future here and I don’t really see that changing.
“I have brought a house around Nottingham and I enjoy the area. I like it here and I love the club.
“I enjoy playing my football here. I am not looking to change or anything like that. I am happy here.”
